The First Plenary Meeting of RILEM TC-TDC Held in Beijing
Date:2012/5/21  View counts:2143

The First Plenary Meeting of RILEM TC-TDC was held in Beijing on May 16, 2012. The meeting was chaired by Yan Yao, the Chairlady of TC-TDC, also President of China Building Materials Academy (CBMA).
F. H. Wittmann from Germany, M. A. Glinicki from Poland, Erik. Schlangen from The Netherlands, R. Pillai from India, Tiejun Zhao, Feng Xing and others from China, totally 13 members of TC-TDC and 5 students and engineers from CBMA attended this meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Yan Yao gave a brief introduction on the planed work program of TC-TDC and on the main topics to be discussed in the meeting. Two subgroups, Group A and Group B discussed the work and main items of each group in depth, namely an annotated bibliography, and a compilation of test methods on concrete durability under combined actions respectively.
Under the leadership of Prof. F. H. Wittmann, Group A classified ten categories of papers for the annotated bibliography to be published. Meanwhile, Chairlady of Group B, Prof. Ling Wang and Secretary of Group B, Dr. Juan Li chaired their group meeting. Members of Group B reviewed and classified all the related test methods, which have been collected so far. The combination of environment load and mechanical load has been selected to be most important by voting. A preliminary test method has been proposed for the first comparative test series.

On May 17, the second day, TC-TDC confirmed the outline and format of the annotated bibliography to be published, as well as the combination of multiple actions and the detailed test method for comparative test series after discussions by all the members. Moreover, results of both groups will have to be revised after the minutes have been sent out to all the TC-TDC members and their feedback has been received. It is planed that this process should be finished within 2 weeks after the meeting.
This meeting closed on May 17 at noon. In the wrap-up presentation, Yan Yao expressed her sincere thanks to all the experts who attended the meeting for their personal efforts and their support to the new RILEM TC-TDC. She also thanked those who were unable to attend the meeting but helped a lot in providing the papers and the recommendations on test methods. All members present were confident that the ambitious aim of TC-TDC will be achieved successfully.
After the meeting, all the professors were invited to visit the labs at the China Building Materials Academy and State Key Laboratory of Green Building materials. This was a good opportunity to get a better understanding of the testing device for combined actions.
